Homa Bay

A region of extraordinary beauty, deep resilience, and remarkable potential. This is where Radiant's story begins.

The Place

Homa Bay County sits on the eastern shores of Lake Victoria in western Kenya — one of the most beautiful and historically significant regions in East Africa. Lake Victoria is the world's largest tropical lake. The landscapes of Homa Bay are dramatic: wide skies, fertile land, and the shimmering vastness of the lake stretching to the horizon.

The county is home to approximately 1.1 million people, predominantly from the Luo community — a people known for their warmth, their culture, their music, and their determination. Homa Bay has produced some of Kenya's most distinguished leaders, academics, and public figures. The potential here is unmistakable.

"Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn."

— Isaiah 60:3

The Challenge

And yet Homa Bay faces real challenges. Youth unemployment is high. Talented graduates and young professionals who grow up here often feel they have no choice but to leave — heading to Nairobi for work, or leaving the country altogether. As they go, the region loses the very people who could lead its transformation.

This pattern is not unique to Homa Bay. It is a story repeated across Kenya and across much of Africa: the jobs are not here, so the people leave, and regional economies stagnate.

Radiant believes there is another way.

What Radiant Is Doing

Our work in Homa Bay is multi-stranded, designed around our four strategic priorities. Every strand is in active development — and the early fruit is genuinely encouraging.

The gospel is being proclaimed

We are working with local churches across Homa Bay County to plan and deliver large-scale gospel events. The vision is for communities to gather in their thousands — to worship, to hear the gospel preached with faith, and to respond.

Business owners are being equipped

Our Kingdom Business Equipping Days are already running in the region — bringing together small and mid-sized business owners for teaching on the theology of work and practical business tools. Business owners are leaving with a fresh sense of calling and the clarity to build differently.

Students are building ventures

Radiant is launching the Entrepreneurs Intensive on a university campus in Homa Bay. In five days, students form startup teams, build AI-powered prototypes, and pitch real ventures to social impact investors.

Church leaders are coming together

One of the most encouraging fruits of our work so far is that church leaders in Homa Bay are beginning to come together across denominations in a way that is new and genuinely exciting. A unity network is developing, prayer meetings are forming, and gatherings of leaders are being planned. This relational infrastructure is the foundation that will allow the Radiant Movement to continue long after any single event or programme has ended.

A Multi-Year Commitment

Radiant's approach in Homa Bay is not a one-off visit. We are committed to returning year after year, deepening relationships and measuring real impact: businesses started, jobs created, people trained, communities reached with the gospel, and networks that grow stronger over time.

Homa Bay is just the beginning. As we learn and see God at work, we believe this model will spread to other areas, and across the continent.

Why Kenya?

Kenya is a nation of remarkable faith, energy, and ambition. It is a nation experiencing a wonderful move of God with a vibrant church spanning every denomination. It is also one of Africa's most dynamic economies — a hub of technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

We believe Kenya is a forerunner nation. What begins here will spread across the continent. This is where the Radiant vision becomes tangible — and where we believe God is already at work in ways that will astonish the world.
